With the development of dyestuff industry, the dyestuff wastewaterproduced has become one of the most primary wastewater pollution sources. Our country has produced about 420 thousand tons dyestuff every year, accounting for 45 percent of the world's output. Ten thousand tons dyestuff islet as wastewater into rivers and lakes every year, but only 22.5 percentdyestuff wastewater is dealt with at present and 40 percent can check out, sodyestuff wastewater has a serious effect on environment. There have been alot of studies on this and a great breakthrough on actinochemistry has beenmade. TiO2 as multiphased photic catalyst has a great potential use becauseof safety, innocuity and extensive source. At present, TiO2 as photic catalysthas mostly two aspects to be improved. One is to resolve the fastness ofcatalyst. It is difficult to separate Nano-TiO2 from the dealt dyestuffwastewater, so photic catalyst cann't be used repeatedly easily. The other is toimprove the efficiency of photic catalyst. TiO2 as photic catalyst needsultraviolet radiation, so its use is restricted. Therefore, it is very important tofind a simple, cheap, feasible and less restriction means to deal with dyestuffwastewater.Tourmaline is an appellative of all kinds of tourmaline mineral and hascomplicated chemistry elements. It is a kind of orbicular silicate mineral. It ischaracterized by boron and is composed of the elements of aluminium, natrium, iron, magnesium and lithium. Tourmaline has permanentspontaneous polarization. There is a strong electric field around it, sotourmaline has many functions such as electrolyzing water, releasinghydroxyl negative ions, increasing dissolved oxygen of water and eradiating far-infrared. Hydroxyl negative ions have superficial active effect and canpermeate, disperse and dissolve organic substance or deoxidize some organicfunction groups. Active oxygen of water can oxidate organic dyestuffs todegrade it.A series of parallel experiments were made on the degradation ofdyestuff by 12 functional powders like tourmaline, phosphatic zirconium andanatase titanium dioxide. Through comparing some capabilities of allpowders, guangxian 6000 compound tourmaline powder was selected todegrade organic dyestuffs. This powder was composed with high polymer inorder to be separated easily from solution and be used repeatedly. Then thepowder composed with high polymer was used to deal with stimulantdyestuff wastewater and the rate of degradation can achieve 80 percent in 24hours. This means was simple, cheap, feasible and less restriction. It wouldbecome a new means to deal with dyestuff wastewater.
