The properties, chemical component and structure, reason of crease formationand crease-resist mechanism were reviewed. The history, present situation anddevelopment of the durable press finishing of silk fabric were also outlined. In thisresearch, the synthesized epoxide (HY-001) were used as a non-formaldehydedurable press finishing agent and applied to tussah the silk fabrics. Several importantfactors affecting finishing effects were discussed, and the optimized finishingprocedure and conditions were obtained. In addition, the mechanism of reactionbetween the water-soluble epoxide and tussah the silk was preliminarily discussed.The research results showed that the water-soluble epoxide exhibited a goodreaction ability to tussah silk, and could obviously improve the anti-wrinkle andwear performance of tussah silk fabric. After tussah silk fabric was finished with thewater-soluble epoxide, its wet wrinkle recovery angle was markedly increased, butthe increase in dry wrinkle recovery angle was limited. The finishing by the mixtureof the water-soluble epoxide and the amino-silicone softener could increase drywrinkle recovery angle, but had a negative effect on wet wrinkle recovery angle.After finishing, the obvious change in the hand and luster of tussah silk fabric hadnot found, but the improvement in the problem of water mark was found. The dyeingtests indicated that the dyeability of tussah silk was evidently decreased afterfinishing.
