Eco-environmental sensitivity is defined as the possibility of formation and generation of ecological problems in a given region influenced by natural and man-made factors. In recent years, city eco-environment has been seriously deteriorated. Many environmental problems, such as urban ecological configuration destruction and environmental pollution, occurred along with rapid population growth and urban expansion. For social and economic sustainable development, strengthening eco-environmental system management in Jingzhou city is prerequisite. Based on investigation and satellite image, synthetically analyses and evaluates the sensitivity to urban ecological configuration destruction, and environmental pollution has been done by GIS spatial analysis method. Furthermore, the spatial distribution of eco-environmental system sensitivity and service importance were characterized. The results show that the difference of spatial distribution between these factor was significant and the spatial area of Jingzhou eco-environmental system can be divided into sub-region of acute sensitive, high sensitive, mediate sensitive, low sensitive and non-sensitive. The main conclusions of research are summarized as follows.1. Describe the basic map in terms of eco-environmental sensitivityThe IKONOS image of the year 2005 was selected as the researching data source. Through geometry correction and supervised classification in ERDAS software, the image is classified into different classes, and a fine result was gained with an accuracy of above 85%. According to the standard of urban land using classification and planning and investigation in Jingzhou, all varieties of land using are classified into 11 classes and the map of landscape in Jingzhou is established which are the basis of evaluation.2. Evaluation of eco-environmental sensitivity in Jingzhou city Aiming at the characteristics of Jingzhou city, the evaluation index system of eco-environmental sensitivity is established in this research. From the standpoint of environmental protection, this paper analyses the practice of pollution in water, air and voice; from the standpoint of ecology, the main ecological problems in Jingzhou city are the density of population, the construction of land using and vegetation. According to the result of evaluation which measured by the GIS and traditional methods, the Jingzhou city is divided into 5 sub-regions. The area percents of 5 sub-regions are 17.9%, 27.6%, 26.3%, 15.4% and 12.8% of total area respectively.3. The division and countermeasures from the results of assessment.According to the result of assessment, Jingzhou city is divided into 7 functional areas. The purpose of division is to set up the environmental planning of protection and construction in Jingzhou, to vindicate the regional safety of ecology and to utilize the resource rationally. In the last part of the paper, 7 areas are analyzed respectively. To each region, the main problems of eco-environment which are existed or potential are proposed, and the drive and reasons which produced the eco-environment problems are made out. The motives of all expatiation are to lead Jingzhou city to carry out the harmonious development in all respects.
