Thermal recovery boiler, the key equipment of heavy crude extraction,is a direct current horizontal boiler. As it often works under high temperature, accidents frequently happen and serious explosions tend to occur. Therefore, it is of great necessity to study its reliability. At present, there is little study on the fault of its whole system. To further enhance its security and reliability, this paper analyzes its system fault, obtains its fault fuzzy reliability, and tries to find the main reasons of causing faults and the weakness of its system reliability.Firstly, this paper discusses the development and the content of the thermal recovery boilers and their reliability, analyses the content and significance of this research, studies and discusses the fuzzy reliability of a mechanical system. Secondly, through analyzing the structure of a thermal recovery boiler system, this paper finds the basic events of the system fault. On this basis, plus the system reliability theory, the author adopts fault tree system and founds a fault tree of the thermal recovery boiler system, and according to which, does a detailed qualitative analysis on the thermal recovery boiler system, its subsystems and its components, and eventually educes the weakness of the system reliability. Finally, considering the fuzziness of the data obtained when fault happens on the system and subsystems, combining with fuzzy mathematical theory, establishes a subjection function of the fuzzy analysis and does a fuzzy quantitative analysis on the fault tree. In the Quantitative analysis of the fault tree, finds the fuzzy reliability of the system fault and the fuzzy importance its components, providing reference for practical production. To establish and analyze the fuzzy reliability of the fault tree can help the maintenance workers find the basic fault and then confirm the causes quickly and accurately. Thus helps save the maintenance time and improve the efficiency.
