The water-borne hydrophilic coatings based on acrylic resin and water-soluble anticorrosive coating based on epoxy resin was prepared in the paper. The effect of reaction condition, such as reaction time, temperature, molar ratio of reaction mass on hydrophilic and anticorrosive properties of the coating was studied thoroughly.Polymerizable quaternary ammonium salt as an hydrophilic monomer was synthesized by N,N—dimethylethanolamine methacrylate and 1,3-propane sultone. The hydrophilic acrylic resin coating was consisted of methyl methacrylate(MMA), n-butyl acrylate(n-BA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), quaternary ammonium salt and other additives and the product was obtained by emulsion copolymerization. The reaction condition has great effects on the polymerization. The optimum copolymerization conditions was: the amount of the quaternary ammonium salt was 12.5% based on the total amount of monomer and the emulsifier was 7%. The curing temperature was 230℃, curing time 90s and the contact angle of the crosslinking film is 25°.Water-soluble anticorrosive coating based on epoxy resin was prepared by introducing quaternary ammonium salt to the main chain of epoxy resin. The coating has excellent anticorrosive capability comparing with the commercial product. The effect of the amount of triethylamine hydrochloride (TAC), reaction temperature and time, etc, on the properties of emulsions and films was discussed. The chemical structure of all monomer and polymer was carefully characterized. The results show that the film has the best anticorrosive property of the film was obtained when the reaction was carried out at: reaction temperature was 105℃, reaction time was 4 hours, and the dosage of TAC is 85% based on the molar amount of epoxy groups.
