The slaughter-house wastewater treatment from a slaughter-house in chongqing by ABR is studied in this paper, the slaughter-house wastewater being the research object. According to the feature of ABR and characteristics of slaughter-house wastewater, the main study content are the property of start-up of ABR,operating characteristic and the main influential factor .The research results show that:①the reactor start successfully after the 33 day's habituate culture with the low-loading, with the temperature being at 35~40℃and the COD influent concentration from 1500 to 3000 mg/L.②the ABR reactor run in different HRT, respectively being 27.5h, 20h, 17.5h, 15h and 11.25h. From this experiment it is found that the optimum HRT is 20h, COD removal efficiency is about 94%.③when the HRT is 20h, with increasing the COD influent concentration, the COD removal efficiency of ABR reactor is increased at first and then is decreased. The optimum volumetric loading rate of the ABR is 4.03 kg COD/(m~3.d).④the temperature of the experiment ranging from 30℃to 40℃, the COD removal efficiency are increased with increasing temperature. However, this change is unobvious, which has a little influence on the COD removal efficiency.⑤analyzing the COD accumulative removal efficiency, COD relative removal efficiency and COD real removal efficiency of compartment in ABR reactor, the total COD removal efficiency is above 80%.⑥during the experiment, the PH of effluent is in the range of 6.4~7.2, Most of the concentration of volatile fatty acid is below 1500mol/L, which shows the reactor is in the normal operation state, without acidification.⑦through analyzing ammonia nitrogen of each compartment in ABR ,it is found that ammonization mainly takes place in the first two compartments, and the last two compartments'ammonization get slowing down. HRT has unobvious effect on ammonization and the increasing rate of ammonia nitrogen is between 2% and 16%. When the HRT is 17.5h, the increasing rate is the highest, which demonstrates that the best time of ammonization is 17.5h.
