As a new kind of cold processing technology, abrasive water jet machining has been widely used for its incomparable characteristics over traditional techniques. However, with the higher demands of machining precision and high speed, the traditional water jet machine tool can not meet the growing demands of precise cutting.The fundament of abrasive water jet technology and mechanism of abrasive water jet cutting were studied in the thesis. Each functional module of typical abrasive water jet cutting system is analyzed. According to the disadvantage of traditional abrasive water jet machine tool, the Solution to abrasive water jet precise cutting based on industrial personal computer (IPC) and programmable Multi-Axis Controller (PMAC) is proposed. Therefore a new water jet machine tool with multifunction could be realized.In order to achieve precise kinetic control, the interpolation method of software and hardware combination is adopted. It can improve machining precision of water jet machine tools. The algorithm of velocity correction is proposed. The water jet precision cutting machine tool can smoothly run with the cutting speed changing. By selection of reasonable parameters in PEWIN32, the system performance can be improved. The kinetic simulation of machine tool is carried out on this base. After adjustment, the control of water jet precise machine tool can be realized. The experiment of water jet cutting material is investigated. The characteristic of water jet cutting technology is verified.The results studied on numeric controlled system for water jet machine tool have great academic meanings and important value in applications.
