The cross-roll straightener is a finishing equipment straightening the tubes. The intensity and rigidity of its frame have a big effect on straightening precision, the quality and rolling yield. TheΦ168 cross-roll straightener of AISC Seamless Steel Pipe Plant is regarded as the research object in this paper. The intensity and rigidity of its frame are analyzed with theoretical and experimental methods.First, straightening force is tested with electrometric method and calculated with theoretical formula too. Then the two results are compared and analyzed with each other. The mean measured value of straightening force is decided to be the finite element as computing load.Second, the Pro/e software is used as the tool of modeling. The three dimensional model of frame is established and then the model is inducted to the finite element software ANSYS10.0 to be divided grids into 302, 682 units andl90, 856 nodes. The mean value average of measured straightening force is used as calculating load. So a finite element analysis of frame is conducted. The deformation and stress at any element or node can be obtained. Therefore, the stress and the displacement distributed rules of the frame are found. Finally, the stress of the frame are tested by electrometric method and the average measured stress are compared with theoretical value. The accuracy and rationality of FEA results are verified.
