Surface roughness is a guide line that influence on machine parts and product performance. It reflects surface microcosmic error in geometrical form. Surface metrology is an important field of geometry metrology and has important impulse action on manufacturing development. The assessment of surface roughness mostly consists of qualitative and quantitative methods. Among many surface roughness measurements, tracer needle electric profile meters have been the most widely applied.In recent years, a series of national standards of surface roughness measurement have been re-edited with changes of international standards. Therefore, many old instruments cannot conform to the new standards. Furthermore, the electronic measurement device of many instruments has been aged. Deactivating them will cause prodigiouss loss. So rebuilding these instruments by refiting the electronic measurement system and upgrading the software is in urgent need and has important realistic meaning.Based the mentioned actuality, the thesis puts forward upgrade and rebuilding of old profile meters by designing advanced measurement circuit and developing convenient, powerful measurement software. We use singlechip of AT89S52 as Moving Compensation Unit to complete the data acquisition, and PDIUSBD12 is widely applied to the communication between Personal Computer and MCU.This paper mainly designs the hardware part and completes the data acquisition software programming. Firstly, the general devisal and feasibility analysis of the original instrument reform scheme are presented; Then the hardware structure and design are expatiated, including the principle and structure analysis of sensor, the design of sensor lateral driving circuit, sensor longitudinal driving circuit, sensor signal adjusting circuit, computer I/O control circuit and A/D changing circuit. Meanwhile, the data acquisition of the system is researched.The driver software and application software, interface software and data acquisition software are compiled. And data processing algorithms and development of measuring and data processing software are also completed. Ultimately, an intellectualized surface microcosmic geometry measuring system with multiparameter, high performance is developed. At the same time, the subject has strong versatility, the technology and method researched and adopted can apply to the automatic and intelligent reform of multi-types inductance surface roughness measuring instrument. Therefore, the subject has higher practical applying value and market popularizing value.
