With the development of the country economic, the output and consumption of steels in China rise gradually, the market of steels is becoming various and there come forth many steel distribution centers. The facilities planning of steel distribution centre is one of the key themes of steel distribution centre design. In this thesis, the facilities planning and simulation of steel distribution centre are studied by means of Systematic Layout Planning, Operational Research, Fuzzy Mathematics and Extend Software, unifying the project of Wuhan Steel Distribution Ltd.In Chapter 1, the concepts, significance and the developing status of distribution centre are introduced. Then, the research areas of modern logistics facilities planning are discussed. In addition, the research state of modern logistics facilities planning and simulation are described. Finally, the main contents and structure of the thesis are given.In Chapter 2, investigate the method of how to confirm the logistics center scale deeply. Do material flow analysis and relationship analysis between every two working-areas so as to confirm the relative importance. Then, based on relative importance build up a layout model with genetic algorithm and Matlab software.In Chapter 3, describe the elementary knowledge of material conveyance system, and then choose the appropriate material conveyance equipment based on the material characteristic. Finally, analyze the choice of the suspending tool.In Chapter 4, based on Extend simulation software, dynamic simulation models of steel distribution centre are built. Realize the running circs of steel distribution centre; validate the correctness of design based on the result of simulation.In Chapter 5, the review and conclusions of this thesis are summarized and the future research work is sketched out.
