Cocoon steaming process is primary important in silk-reeling process, which concerns the quality of raw silk and the reliability. But now in some area the steaming process was omitted, and this paper first proved that cocoon steaming process was necessary by excerpting lots of theses, and the conclusion is not only in theory but also from field survey. Cocoon steaming process usually has three courses: vacuum infiltration, steaming and adjusting. And infiltrating-out-water process is a visible phenomenon in steaming, whose infiltration action is valuable to steaming the inner layer of cocoon. However, at present, why the water is infiltrated out and how it is related to the cocoons'interior temperature and its main influencing factor are few researched.First, a simulation of the infiltrating-out-water process of cycle once-steaming cocoon machines was performed under laboratory conditions. Then the concept of virtual instruments was introduced to make up a test system, with which the interior temperature of cocoon and the weight of the cocoons were measured synchronously and continuously. With the test result and other experiments, combined with physics knowledge, the mechanism of water Infiltrating out of cocoon was found. Basing on the mechanism, the viewpoint cocoon's interior temperature is the main influencing factor of infiltrating-out-water process was got, the reasons how the cocoons that had been pressed recovered and how the cocoons was pressed was give out. Second, measurement in factory was preferred, and the results show the viewpoint before was exact. Finally, by analyzing the cocoon's interior temperature and the difference of volume of the water infiltrated out of cocoon, it is indicated that the revolution of the tube and the blind tube effect the cocoon's interior temperature and the volume of the water. It was significant for factory if using these equipments.
