The papermaking industry uses various automated systems as part of its control processes. These systems generate a variety of heterogeneous data sources.In order to integrate information from these different sources,a process control network and data system is required,in order to provide a unified interface for data access and storage.This dissertation describes a system to collect data from drive DCS and wet-end DCS.The dissertation describes the applicability of OPC technology to information integration systems within the papermaking industry,including the development of an OPC client and a web-based front end displaying real-time information.The academic contributions are shown as follows:1.Analyzing the importance of the information integration technology to the papermaking industry,according to the characteristics of the information integration within existing enterprises.2.Conceptualizing the system into three layers(device layer,abstraction layer and information layer),according to the analysis of user requirement.3.Developing a concept model and a physical model for the information integration platform within the papermaking industry,as well as designing a database.4.Developing an OPC Data Access Model according to the analysis of the exiting OPC based data access mechanisms,and developing OPC client applications.5.Enabling the publishing of real-time data,including the workflow of surface layer system, core layer system and under layer system and displaying the data using curve diagrams.6.Concluding the work and highlighting the areas to be further studied.
