Beam pumping unit is the most widely used oil extraction equipment in China. Raising the beam pumping unit operating efficiency has important meanings in reducing the production cost of the low-yield oil well and improving oil production.This paper details the operation principle of the beam pumping unit, researches around the beam pumping unit for energy saving and consumption reduction, analyzes for the supporting oil insufficient well and the issue that is"the big horse draws the small carriage"in oil fields, and expounds reducing empty pump is the effective way for consumption reduction, improving the systematic rate of utilization and production efficiency of the oil pumping unit. This paper introduces a new energy-saving scheme that based on the voltage control, and designs a system of intelligent and energy-saving for the beam pumping unit. The design of the hardware system of the intelligence energy-saving system is based on the principle of in accordance with the function of the scene and performance requirement. By using AVR single-chip microcomputer ATmega32 and interface circuit of electric current, voltage sensors, the keyboard reveals the circuit of interface, SA4828 chip in three-phase waveforms SPWM, IGBT frequency conversion control circuit combined design together, it can realize starting softly and lowering down the speed of the oil pumping unit, and also prevent frequently starting of the oil pumping unit. The design of the software is as much as possible to intelligent devices that it can automatically monitor, calculate, set stopping pump parameters to slow down and empty pumping, automatically judge the stopping pump situation to slow down and empty pumping, and immediately slow down pumping or stop pumping to meet the conditions. After the slowing down pumping, it can continue to judge the stop pumping conditions, and immediately stop pumping to meet the conditions. Finally, to achieve serial communications of the oil pumping unit, and fault exception handling of intelligent energy-saving system, this paper has done some work for hardware and software.
