As vital components of engine, the family of crankshaft makes a great influence to the whole engine. According to the design requirements, they must meet superior manufacturing precision, as well as superior surface quality and surface integrity. Research shows that by improving the surface quality of crankshaft, work performance and service life of crankshaft can be increased notably, while noise of engine can be reduced. Finishing processing can improve surface quality of Crankshaft, and then improve work performance and service life of crankshaft accordingly. At present, finishing processing of large and medium-sized crankshaft all over the world are still by abrasive belt polishing and steel brush by hand, both the abrasive belt polishing machine and abrasive belt need to be import. At the same time, abrasive belt polishing process can work only on cylindrical surface of crankshaft, while not for both side of crankshaft and other surface. Moreover, none of machining quality, efficiency and cost of abrasive belt polishing is ideal. So it is very necessary to develop equipment for finishing processing of the crankshaft parts family. Started from the mechanism of barrel finishing of crankshaft, this thesis has studied and discussed the influence to finishing processing of the Crankshaft parts family caused by technological parameters such as rotation speed of spindle, frequency and amplitude of packing-case's reciprocating movement, and the depth of the work piece. Then this thesis acquires the effect rule of how correlative parameter influent processing precision & surface quality of parts, and optimizes & ascertains the main parameter. Finally this thesis analyses the driving force parameters and structure parameters of the equipment, as the theory basis to exploitation and improvement of simular equipments.At the same time this thesis also studies processing effects of the crankshaft's barrel finishing equipments, and lead to a conclusion that: after barrel finishing to large and medium-sized crankshaft, synthetically surface quality is improved, surface physics mechanics function is improved, surface roughness value reduces by a grade, the surface hardness improves by more than 7 HB, surface stress status changes from pulling strain into pressure strain, wear resistant layer improves by 5-6 times, Tp value can reach 70%, the surface forms a homogeneous vein of shape(be beneficial to storing up oil), the cleanness index is double than before and reaches the requirement.In one word, this thesis thinks that by studying and improving the barrel finishing technology of crankshaft, getting their rule and applying to production reality finally, the finishing quality of crankshaft will be improved further more, the level of crankshaft's barrel finishing in our country will be improved also, which will promote the development of correlative industries and bring about great social and economic benefits.
