At present, with the application of new material, advanced requirement is put forward to the welding equipment for meeting higher welding quality.Digitized PMIG welding is playing an important role in welding field for its advantages, such as good direction transition, less splashed material, nice figure and wide welding current extent. The history, actuality and foreground of welding equipment are firstly introduced in this paper, followed with the specialities of PMIG-welding(Pulsed Metal Inert Gas-Welding)and the far-reaching effects of digital technology combined with inverter technique. Also, the reasons and necessities why the task should be studied are given, according to the analysis of internal and international situation. The paper introduced several control methods suited to PMIG welding technique.Main circuit and control system made up of "ARM+DSP+FPGA", including hardware and software, are designed. The main circuit takes IGBT as power devices core while the control system takes ARM as control core, charging process control, with RTOS(Real Time Operating System)embedded. The central function of DSP,the operation core,is carrying out feedback calculation of welding parameters.Various noises that may disturb the normal work of welding equipment and their causations are analyzed. In order to reduce their bad infections, some measures both in main circuit design and control system design are adopted. The analysis of experiment results shows that the PMIG welding equipment can realize the normal welding functions, such as arc-start,arc-off and arc length adjusting. The design reached the target and came into conformity with technique guidelines. Finally, the paper analyzed the deficiency of this design and proposed further work direction.
