According to the problems exist in the common bait methods such as bad cross-section quality and low efficiency, scholars from different countries have conducted a lot of researches on the cutting technology and quality. But most of them are theoritical ones and cannot provide effective theory directions for production. A new bar cutting technology based on high speed and restrained state was put forward by the project team of Tyust, which is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No.50475049). The objection of the study is to improve the development of the precision shearing equipment and technology.In this paper, mechanism of high speed bar cuuting was studied and analyzed, the main factors influcing the quality of the cutting sections were elucidated. Experiments were carried out on a 4kJ high-speed precision bar cutting machine with patented technology. The cutting experiments were performed at different cutting speed (4 ~ 7 m / s) and different temperatures (room temperature ~400℃), with different material quality (35 steel and 45 steel). Each sanmples were labeled and marked after the experiment.The method of macro morphology observation and micro analysis was combined to study the quality and micro morpology of the fracture section of the cutting materias. Firstly, the experiment samples were observed and measured, and the measured data were analyzed and compared. Then the LEO438vp Scanning electronic microscope was used to research the microscopic morphologies of different samples. The figure of the featured parts were obtained and analyzed.Through the experimental study, the theories of high speed precision bar cutting was verified, the influences of different cutting parameters on the quality of the fracture sections were obtained. It indicates that through the selection of appropriate cutting parameters, the precision of the cutted bar can satisfy the requirement of precision forging process.The research results of this subject will provide a practical guidance and optimized process parameters for the high-quality, high efficiency and low-power precision cutting methods. It will also provide a theoretical basis for the development of high speed precision cutting equipments. The problem existed in the traditional baiting methods such as bad cutting section precision, lower efficiency, waste of materials and the higher energy consuption will be solved.
