The ultra-fine disperse dye with high dyeing velocity, excellent tinct strength and simple application can be employed for dyeing and printing of the synthetical fiber, such as polyester, nylon and so on. The properties of ultra-fine disperse dyes have become one hotspot research in the textile chemical industry especially along with fast-developing digital inkjet printing technology. The additives, such as water-soluble organic solvents, surfactants, deformer and so on which can greatly improve the application performances, were added into the ultra-fine disperse dye to prepare the inkjet printing inks. The different types of water-soluble organic solvents, surfactants, deformers and antiseptics were used as additives for ultra-fine disperse dye to prepare inkjet printing inks. The inks was first ejected on the transfer printing paper by inkjet printer, and then the disperse dyes were sublimed and transferring to PET through thermal transfer printing process. The effects of additives on properties of ultra-fine disperse dye were investigated in this paper. The results show that glycerin, diethylene glycol, glycol and 1,2-propanediol can not only enhance the moisture retention, modify the viscosity of the ink , but also improve the stability of the ink and K/S value of dyeing textiles. Glycerin, diethylene glycol and glycol can also improve the transfer rate of disperse dye, while the 1,2-propanediol can not when its dosage was lower than 20%. All surfactant SF-100, SF-200 and SF-300 can reduce the surface tension, improve the stability and reduce the transfer rate of disperse dye inks. SF-200 was more suitable than SF-100 and SF-300 for usage in inkjet inks according to the K/S value of dyeing textile. Deformer DF-100 and DF-200 can effectively decrease the foams and also improve the stability and transfer rate of ultra-fine disperse dye. Antiseptic AD-100 and AD-200 can improve the storage stability of ultra-fine disperse dyes. And to improving the K/S values AD-100 was better than AD-200.Moreover, the results also show that the ink's wettability and penetrability on the surface of transfer paper can also affect the transfer rate of ultra-fine disperse inks. The higher viscosity of disperse dye ink, the higher wettability, and also the lower transfer rate. The higher surface tension of disperse dye ink, the higher penetrability, and also the lower transfer rate. Finally, we choose the additives which can improve the whole application property of ultra-fine disperse dye according to above experiment results, and we also optimized the experiment conditions to get an optimal recipe for disperse dye ink for inkjet printing.
