Feed system is a key proportion of the structure of injection mould, and is also the only channel for molten plastic flowing into mould cavity. In order to ensure the filling effect in the mould cavity and the final forming quality of the plastic part, the design needs to consider not only the matching relationship and the structure optimized related to the other component parts of the mould, but also the demand of the flow channel to the polymer melt's rheological properties.On the basis of total analysis and summarization for the basic theory and principle knowledge of the injection mould feed system design, expert experience and successful cases, simultaneity according to the structure characteristic and design process requirement of feed system, the paper applies the ideology knowledge-based engineering (KBE) and the correlation theory about the intelligent design. It also makes use of the ObjectARX2002 redevelopment tool and the Access2003 database technology that is under the development environment of Visual C++6.0 and on the AutoCAD2002 basic platform. And it researches on the technology and the method of the intelligent design of injection mould feed system based on knowledge.According to the practice process of injection mould design and the relationship of other mould function structures, the paper builds the whole structure of intelligent design of feed system with the intelligent design approach. It applies the method of combining the rule-based-reasoning (RBR) and case-based-reasoning (CBR) technology to realize the systematic representation for the rule knowledge and case knowledge of feed system design reasonably with the basic feature of plastic part as index and the representation method based on production knowledge, and establishes the tree knowledge database of layered structure relationship by the feed system compositions and design knowledge types. It realizes the search, accession and modification to the knowledge database with the ADO accessing technology, and also the intelligent design from the well-known plastic part model to feed system scheme using the mixed reasoning strategy mainly on the forward reasoning. An example of box plastic part design is given to indicate that the design scheme reasoned by the intelligent design system of feed system is reasonable and feasible and meets the mould design requirement. The system's visual interface of human-computer interaction incarnates the convenience and shortcut.
