With the development of manufacture technology, there is tighter requirement for the gear products on quality, cost and automation, so it is of important realistic significance to carry out research on automatically program system for gears manufacturing. In traditional gear manufacturing process, NC program is composed manually, which leads to faults on intensive computational efforts, high error rate and low efficiency, while CAD/CAM automatic programming needs proficient operators'manually modeling and simulating of workpiece , which lead to faults on high cost and undue independence on operator ability.In order to solve the problem as above, one solution which combines embedded system and automatically program system is raised. The solution comes from thorough investigation and research. The core of the solution lies in off-line automatically program system, in which the operators can compose NC program without NC machine and input process parameter by wizard that will generate NC program with program generate algorithm. The solution which has many advantages on cost, maintaining, flexibility can be suitable for middle and small quantity production.SOME IMPORTANT ISSUES INVOLVED IN SYSTEM DESIGNING IS RESEARCHED IN THE THESIS. FIRST THE PRINCIPLE AND METHOD OF NC GEAR HOBBING IS RESEARCHED AND ANALYZED, BASED ON WHICH THE NC PROGRAM ZERO-PROGRAM MODULE IS BUILT. THEN THE SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE AND DEVELOPING PLATFORM OF SYSTEM IS RESEARCHED IN THE THESIS. AT LAST, THE ARCHITECTURE AND PRINCIPLE OF EMBEDDED LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM AND MINIGUI GRAPHIC MIDDLEWARE IS ANALYZED IN THE THESIS.After that, the system is implemented in embedded software and hardware developing method. First the whole design scheme which describes the software and hardware modules is built after feasibility study and demands analysis. Then the hardware circuit of some important module is designed and the low-level software and application software is designed base on hardware details. At last, the software is porting to hardware platform and integreted into system. .
