Disperse dye TR-16(for short: TR-16) and cotton were taken as study system in this thesis. Color change of dyes on cotton fabrics and the influence factors were studied. Synergy of antioxidant and UV absorber were used to improve colorfastness of TR-16 on cotton fabrics. First, influences of temperature, humidity, light wavelength and oxygen to light fastness of transfer printed cotton fabrics are studied, and the regularity was found.Second, the principle of color change of dyes on cotton was found by analyzing IR and GM of different samples. It is oxidation, no water molecules involved.Finally, the light fastness effect of different antioxidant, UV absorbent and its dosage on disperse red TR-16 is studied. Also the cooperative effect between optimum antioxidant and UV absorbent and its aqueous dispersion dosage form to improve the light fastness were prepared.The results show that antioxidant or UV absorbent can improve the light fastness in a certain degree. The light fastness has been enhanced greatly by both adding 0.5% antioxidant 1010 and 0.1% UV absorbent BA-1.
