With the development of technology and the increasing quality requirements ofproducts, some parameters like temperature or humidity must be measured in somemanufacturing industries to guarantee quality of products. For example, the industriesproducing medicine, chemistry products, storing provisions and so on. The monitoringtechnology is so improtant to these industries that the development of monitoringdevices with high technologies is of great significance in measuring environmentparameters effectively and accurately.Generally, the devices in China with SCM(single chip microcontroller) processorcannot collect data within wide area, print and display them in different ways. In orderto solve these problems to a certain degree, the project of developing monitoringdevices about environment parameters based on embedded system is proposed.Several high and new technologies are adopted: ARM9 with fast processing speed andmany interfaces is used instead of SCM; Linux operation system with open sourceand complete functions, is used; SQLite database with large capacity, occuping a littlememory, is used to store data; Zigbee protocol is used to form a wireless network ofmany nodes within wide area, making the transmission of data to embedded systemwith highly efficient; Ethernet is used to communicate with host computer.The design proposals are described in detail in this paper. At first, thebackground, content, significance and situation of monitoring devices at home andabroad of this project are introduced; In the second chapter, microprocessor, operationsystem and application of embedded system are described; In chapter three, hardwaredesign of this monitoring system is described from theories and functions of S3C2410;Thought of software design is mainly introduced from theories, process, revelentfunctions and problems met in debugging in the fourth chapter; In the fifth chapter,the developing environment, used tools and debugging methords are described briefly;Finally, the summary and outlook of this design proposal are given.
