Knitted fabric made of super-low-twisted cotton yarn is featured by cashmere-like soft handfeeling,which is applied in textiles pursuing good handfeeling,like underwear,bath towel and so on.Due to low twist,this kind of knited fabric is prone to fuzzing and pilling,which severely affect the wear behavior.Reserch for an ideal finishing process to promote the anti-piling performance of super-low-twisted fabric opens an excellent prospect.The main target of this paper is developing the anti-piling finishing process of super-low-twisted cotton yarn(cheese) by using GPTMS sol as agent.This method of yarn finishing can endow the yarn good anti-pilling performance.Sol-gel technology has been applied in textile finishing field like antibiotics,UV-resistant,antistatic thanks for its little pollution and convenience.But the study report of anti-piling finishing with sol-gel technology is rarely seen except of the previous reserch in our team.Compared with traditional resin crosslink,the film formed by sol-gel has the similar net structure,but possesses the merit of good permeability and handfeeling as well as the characteristic of thin.This paper utilized the gelling of sol on the surface of fibers so as to promote the anti-pilling performance of yarn.By investigation of coating text and measuring of transmittance,several important factors influencing the stability of sol in the treatment were researched like pH value,temperature.In the application of GPTMS sol on anti-pilling finishing of super-low-twisted cotton yarn,pH value,temperature,concentration of finishing liquor and liquid pickup of yarn were analysed on the basis of measuring index of fuzzy fiber of cotton yarns and pilling rating as well as observing surface of cotton fiber with SEM. Industrialized conditions for cheese treatment were suggested as well as the principle of anti-pilling finishing with sol-gel technology were discussed.The result of the industrialized experiment showed that anti-pilling finishing of cheese seperately with GTPMS sol treatment and the treatment of GPTMS sol with softing - then singing process can endow super-low-twisted yarn a high anti-pilling rating of 4 and 3(compared with that of untreated of 1.5) without change of colour and handle.The treatment of GPTMS sol with softing - then singing process can also overcome the bad effect brought by softening.Application of photochemistry technology on anti-piling finishing process of super-low-twisted cotton fabric is an innovative study in this paper.On the basis of this technology, super-low-twisted cotton fabric was padded onto by hydrogen peroxide,then treated with continuous UV irradiation.UV exposure was confined to the surface fibers and induces the wet oxidation process,which selectively weakens the surface fibers relative to the bulk fibers responsible for fabric strength.The treatment was highly effective,the treated fabric gained an excellent anti-pilling performce of grade 5 of anti-pilling without color change.Though the method brought the treated fabric low strength retention rate,anti-pilling finishing of super-low-twisted cotton fabric with photochemistry technology is a new way to textile finishing.
