Milk protein fiber is a kind of new regenerated protein fiber. It has both advantages of synthetic fiber and natural fiber.For example,it is high-strenth but soft,low-shrink and skin-friendly, good in moisture absorption and air permeability.However, milk protein fiber knitted fabrics have serious fuzzing and pilling problems after washing and wearing which restrict its wearability and further development in the market.So it is significant to improve milk protein fabric's anti-fuzzing and pilling performance.First of all,cotton fabric and polyester-cotton fabric were seleeted as the contrast specimens of milk protein fabric.In dry condition,fuzzing and pilling performance of milk protein knitted fabric was study on by subjective evaluation and objective evaluation method.The milk protein fabric was also repeatedly washed,and its fuzzing performance was evaluation by projection and count method.The results show that in dry condition,pills of milk protein knitted fabric appears not fast, but the procedure of pilling lasted long time and the pills dropped slowly.In hygrometric condition,there are only fuzzs appearing on milk protein knitted fabric.As increasing of warshing times,the amount and length of fuzzs also increase.On the basis of previous theory,mechanism of fuzzing and pilling of milk protein knitted fabric was analysised in dry and hygrometric condition.Kinetic model of fuzzing and pilling mechanism in dry condition was also built.The results show that the poor anti- fuzzing and anti-pilling performance of milk protein knitted fabric is due to good wear resistance performance,which cause pills drop slowly.Fuzzing after washing is a main behavior due to the low cohesion force of the fiber,which cause fiber slippage.We investigated the influence of yarn blend components, fabric structure and fabric density on the fuzzing and pilling performance.Bamboo,Modal and Tencel fibers had been blended with milk protein fiber and the knitted fabrics were prepared with three different structures such as jersey,1+1 rib and interlock stitch,with different densities respectively.The samples' anti-pilling and fuzzing properties had been tested in dry and hygrometric condition in order to research the effect of different factors on anti-fuzzing and pilling properties of milk protein fiber knitted fabrics.The results show that due to the combined effect of fiber morphology,fiber properties and fabric density,the influence of different blended fibers on anti-fuzzing and anti-pilling properties of milk protein fiber knitted fabrics are very complicated;Interlock stitch has the best anti-fuzzing and pilling properties among three structures;fabric density is closely related to the anti-fuzzing and pilling properties.Orthogonal design and variance analysis were used to select the best parameters of anti-fuzzing and anti-pilling finishing. The fabric had also been single-side softening finished after anti-fuzzing and anti-pilling finish to improve fabric handing. The mainly influence factor of single-side softening finishing was the amount of softening finishing agent.The anti-fuzzing and anti-pilling performance was increased as softening finishing agent amount was inceasing,but anti-fuzzing and anti-pilling performance was decreased after amount exceed specific level.The results show that after anti-fuzzing and anti-pilling finishing and single-side softening finishing,the anti-fuzzing and anti-pilling performance of milk protein knitted fabric has been improve.
