Based on the state-of-the-art of structural analysis of machine tool,considering the lower of process precision of surface grinder,the staticand dynamic analysis were performed to components and complete of grinder,using ANSYS FEA software,improvement projects were proposed,also the optimization was carride out and has validated the feasibility of improvement projects.Aiming at improving the vibration resistance ability and avoiding the possible reasonance of the structures,this paper carries out the dynamicanalysis for the surface grinder from three aspects respectively,that is,the key components of grinder,the machine joints and the whole machine,and upon which relative structural improving designs have been researched.Firstly,according to the structure characteristics of grinder,the model of themain components of grinder was established by applying solid element,the static analysis was performed after the simplify load and constrains were given.Secondly, modal analysis was performed to original grinder and the improved one,after the improvement,the first natural frequency was change very little,also has similarly mode shape. Considering the result of static analysis,the improved projects of components not only decrease the weight, but also reduce the distortion, accordingly the improved projects is testified to be feasible.Lastly,a solid model of bed for plane grinder is created with 3D design software SolidWorks. The model of bed is led into ANSYS for 3D finite element analysis. The bed of plane grinder is reformed according to the result of analysis and then based on its result for 3D finite element analysis again. Some important foundations are provided for the bedps reformation and optimization. After these,the structural natural frequency changes a little,but the grinder bed mass reduces greatly,thus the obvious result is achieved.
