Generally speaking, according to design and technological requirements, numerical control technique do digitized information management and control to product's manufacturing procedure by using computer. so as to reach the goal of production automation and enhance overall performance. numerical control technique is the core of advanced manufacturing engineering and have great potential applications. Applying PC technique to numerical control technique is the most great leaps of numerical control technique and the versatility and high performance of PC make NC technique a remarkable predominance in the aspect of technical economy.The characteristic of figuration grinding is that the grinding wheel being trimmed to the shape is anatomized with the outline of workpiece. When processing, the grinding wheel contacting with the outline of workpiece fully and then form the whole outline of the workpiece. The numerical control's grinding wheel correction combines the grinding wheel's correction and numerical control technique and finally correct out the generatrix-grinding wheel. This technology can make the process of correction more flexible and receive high precision and high efficiency.Conventional numerical control system adopt enclosed structure. but we konw that this structure strongly depends on manufacturers and have no benefit to the function's expanding and amending of numerical control system. In such a case, by utilizing opening PC numerical control technique, we built this numerical control system at a opening platform in order to obtain expandability, portability, exchangeability, interoperability and so on. Client can change or expand system function according to requirement so as to adapt different application demands.Adopting this PC numerical control technique, opening design concept and modularized design method, this paper design the application software of grinding wheel correction machine, in the platform of grinding wheel correction machine's numerical control system, to realize the full automation machining of grinding wheel correction machine.1. Analyses the develop history, actual state and trend of PC numerical control technique, introduces the concept of numerical control system architecture and the significance of its system performance, demonstrates the necessity making numerical control system application software with opening structure. Combining with the introduce of figuration grinding technique, this paper present its research background, research content as well as design concept.2. Introduce the concept of opening numerical control system and means of modular design, discusses the train of thought and design steps of numerical control system application software which is according to the design concept and means.3. Introduce the design proposal and modular structure of this numerical control system application software. Particularly present the design process of numerical control system application software which includes writting PLC program for machine tool's control panel, designing grinding wheel modeling module, NC code creation module by using programming languages visualc++ and database technology, designing manufacturing procedure control module by using Dynamic Link Library PCOMM32.DLL which is submitted with PMAC motion controller.This application software can get module parameters from library or create a new one at any time, do manual processing task through virtual operation panel. Also because of opened design, it can be increased more target-oriented functional module by someone else's further research.
