At present, the application of atmospheric pressure pseudo glow discharge plasma(APPDG) in textile industry is the research hotspot and it has the vital role in the surface modification of polymeric material.Because it has many excellences, does not demand vacuum system, can realize consecutive production, obtain large-volume uniform plasma and hold right power density. In this paper, the hydrophilicity and antistatic property of the PE/PP nonwoven fabric improved by APPDG was discussed.PE/PP nonwoven fabric was modified by APPDG,influence of treatment time and distance between the polar plates on the hydrophilicity, tensility, antistatic and thermal properties and dyeing behaviors of cationic dye stuffs was studied. Results showed that the wettability of fabric was improved satisfactorily at optimum condition:treatment time=3min,distance between the polar plates=2mm,discharge power=60W,while the antistatic property was improved limitedly. Contrast with the untreated fabric, the K/S value of dyed plasma treated fabric was improved comparatively. The tensility and thermal properties were changed slightly within the 10 min plasma modification. The graph of Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) showed that roughness of surface became more clear with the increasing of the treatment time. The Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier Transfer Infrared(ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy was applied to analyse the peroxide bond and C=C nonsaturated bond absorb peaks intensity of the plasma treated nonwoven fabric surface. In order to improve the antistatic properties and get the durable wettability, two different experiment procedures to graft polymerization of hydrophilic monomer onto PE/PP nonwoven by plasma were applied.Procedureâ… :The Plasma treated nonwoven fabric was dipped into HPMAS solution, dried in the air,and then placed onto the plasma chamber to finish the graft polymerization of HPMAS.Procedureâ…¡:After the plasma treatment, the nonwoven fabrics were immersed in MAA aqueous solution with SPS without degassing. The influence of synthesis conditions, such as plasma treatment time, monomer concentration, temperature, reaction time, auxiliary agent concentration on the degree of grafting was investigated. The analysis of ATR-FTIR spectroscopy showed that HPMAS and MAA were immobilized in the form of chemical bond by plasma treatment. The graph of SEM showed that the topography of grafted fabrics was different from that of the pristine fabric surface. The result of Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC) analysis showed that the fusion heat and crystallinity changed in the process of graft reaction. It also proved that the monomer was immobilized onto the fabric successfully. With the increase of graft yield, the tensile strength and wettability of the grafted fabric improved. When the graft yield was beyond the certain range, the tensile strength would decrease clearly. The temperature and environment that samples were stored played an important role to the only plasma treated ones, the wettability of which was still better than the untreated ones stored in the same condition. When the graft yield of grafted samples was up to 15%,half-life decay time of the static voltage reduced to less than 2s,which meant that the antistatic property was improved significantly.
