Assessment On Ecosystem Service Value Of Taihu Lake

Taihu Lake is the third biggest fresh lake in china, which suffering from a lot of problems, such as water shortage, serious water pollution, aquatic animals and plants degradation. The deterioration of ecological environment of Taihu is the degradation of ecosystem service. Assessment on ecosystem services value of lakes is the best method on mastering the situation of lake ecosystem environment. Therefore, it's necessary to evaluate ecosystem services value of Taihu Lake.By using methods of economics and ecology comprehensively, this paper evaluates ecosystem services value of Taihu Lake. The main contents include: (1) Indicator system is developed for evaluating ecosystem services of lake, according to the formation of ecosystem services of lake, ecosystem services of lake are divided into provisioning services, regulating services, cultural services and supporting services. Provisioning services include aquatic products, water supply, shipping, and hydroelectric power. Regulating services include flood prevention, water purification and air conditioning. Cultural services include recreation, ecotourism and culture and science. Supporting services include soil conservation, and provisioning of habit. (2) Study the assessment methods of ecosystem services value of Lake. A C-D production function of water supply is developed which takes capital, labor forces, and total water consumption as independent variables, and takes GDP as dependent variable. Based on the model, the total value of water supply of lake ecosystem is evaluated. (3) Taking Taihu Lake as an example, this paper analyses it's ecosystem services, and chooses appropriate methods to evaluate them. The ecosystem services of Taihu Lake are evaluated in 1983, 1993, and 2003 respectively. As a result, the total value of ecosystem services of Taihu Lake is 253.06×104 million yuan(RMB) in 1983, 361.15×104 million yuan(RMB) in 1993, and 416.07×104 million yuan(RMB) in 2003. The increase of ecosystem services value is due to the increase of water supply to industry.(4) The paper makes a sensibility analysis to factor which influences the value of ecosystem services of Taihu Lake, and obtains main factor of influencing the value. Then the paper proposes some measures on improving the value of ecosystem services of Taihu Lake.That assessment on ecosystem service value of Taihu Lake will provide scientific foundation for maintaining and managing Taihu Lake ecosystem, which can optimize ecological value and economic value of cosystem services of Taihu Lake.
