Aspheric optical part processing is a hot topic in ultra-precision machining field, and it is also an acknowledged difficult problem around the world. In order to solve the problem of difficult processing and high cost in machining aspheric optical part,a new principle of processing small-diameter high order aspheric optical part with tangent rotation method is put forward in this paper.This paper expounds the principle of angent rotation method. Firstly, the mathematic modeling of processing small-diameter aspheric optical part is given. Secondly, the theoretical accuracy of the principle is analised. Thirdly, a machine tool structure for processing small-diameter(φ2~10mm) aspheric part is designed. Finally, the hard and software of the control system is designed.According to the above results, the conclusions are drawn that the new principle of the tangent rotation method is correct. It is feasible to process small-diameter high order aspheric optical part. This method can improve the aspheric optical part processing efficiency, reduce processing cost and improve processing quality.
