With the economic globalization, the market becomes more changeful and the competition becomes more intensive. Mass customization has been an efficient way for the enterprises to take part in the market competition. Product configuration design is used as the key technology for product fast customization. The integral kitchen cabinet was studied based on the overall resources of the enterprises and customer demands, through analyzing the main processes of product configuration design and the key technologies of product configuration design theories. Main research efforts are as follows:1. The overall outlines, purposes and processes in designing kitchen cabinet configuration are analyzed based on the theories and key technologies of product configuration design and the features of the products.2. The principle of the customer demands and the way to meet the demands are analyzed by means of the characteristics analysis of the customer demands. The searching matching method of the products sample data and the automatic configuration based on the constraint rules are studied. The customer demands weight calculation model is established, three key factors on kitchen cabinet product configuration are determined and then the analytic hierarchy process is applied to determine the weight of customer demands.3. By analyzing the function-behave-structure principle and the method of generic bill of material (GBOM) product configuration modeling method, a modularized product configuration model based on GBOM for kitchen cabinet products is put forward. According to the customer demands, kitchen cabinet product function is divided with the product family structure module. Then, the structure model of kitchen cabinet product family based on the GBOM , as well as the coding system of kitchen cabinet product are established.4. The kitchen cabinet product fast configuration technologies and rules reasoning oriented to customer demands are studied. The similarity is calculated based on customer demands, and the similar samples in product database are searched. Then the product configuration schemes meeting the customer demands are obtained based on the constraint rules. Finally, an effective method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is proposed to determine the optimal kitchen cabinet product configuration solutions.5. Based on the research efforts above-mentioned, the computer aided kitchen cabinet product configuration system is developed through the application of the relating theories.
