This paper mainly talks about the systematic research of mining igniter from development of ignition composition, design of squib, selection of igniting cord, optimum design of plain detonator and design of overall structure of the products. The testing results of all performance indicators of the mining igniter, such as water resistance, anti-oil performance, resistance to ammonium nitrate aqueous solution with concentration not less than 24 percent, in-water ignitability and delay time, meet the requirements.In the course of study orthogonal experimental method is used for determination of composition ratios of Pb3O4, Si, Sb2S3, binding agent of nitrodope and dibutyl phthalate plasticizing agent; while DSC is used as thermal analysis and determination method for study of the compatibility of ignition composition as well as for study of its sensitivity of the ignition composition. All the performance meets the requirements.Through optimum design of initiation charge, thoughtful manufacturing of ignition slot, optimum design of plain detonator, careful selection of igniting cord, accurate design of rubber sleeve, crimping dimension at the end of plastic tube and considerate study of sensitizing agent, the construction of mining ignition device is designed in a perfect way and the requirements of all performance items of the device are fully satisfied with.The research and production of mining igniter has the important significance not only for exploiting the overseas market of commercial explosives, but also for developing the other igniting compositions and commercial explosives.
