This paper used pre-emulsion and seed polymerization to study various conditions on the acrylic emulsion adhesive, and we studied the acrylic emulsion on the applications of protective film of mirror stainless steel and aluminum-plastic board.We showed that coating of emulsion were best when pH of emulsion was near 8, A single-component adhesive could be got without using additional cross-linking agent when 1% KH-570 was used. 0.1% Protective colloid could resolve the problem that peel strength buildup over time. Amount of styrene should be between 15%~20%. 0.2% Crosslink T could increase the cohesion of adhesive. Using SaC-100 and WS-700 could resolve the problems of residue, protective film could get the best performance when additional crosslinker was 0.2%. In addition, using DNS-86 and ANPEO-P1 could reduce or eliminate the misty residue of mirror stainless steel. At last, We had analysed the reasons of shadow when protective film was used on mirror stainless steel.In this paper, we studied extra-seeding processes of emulsion polymerization on acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive of protective film. The results showed that amount of extra-seeding will be of tremendous importance in viscosity of emulsion, but glass transition temperature of extra-seeding will not be of tremendous importance in initial stage tack. Styrene could improve the compatibility of copolymer and the transparency of adhesive. Acrylic emulsion which were synthesized by seed emulsion polymerization were characterized by means of TEM.Acrylic emulsion adhesive was pilot tested, it achieved requirement of manufacturers of protective film, and it had been put into industrial production in protective film of aluminum-plastic board.
