Wireless access point (AP) is the key components of WLAN communication system, has a vital role and a wide range of functions. Research of planning and application of AP in WLAN communication system, has profound significance for full utilize the performance of the entire system.Various monitoring, control and communication system used in Chinese coal have their own production, which result in duplication of investment in telecommunications line maintenance and construction difficulties, the overall efficiency is low. Developing Digital Mines Integrated Wireless Communication and Management System can comprehensive utilize system information as well as reunification management automation scheduling of mine production. It has great significance to build a resource-saving and efficient and safe construction of a coal mine industry.Therefore, this paper studies the wireless communications features of mine, realizes of the AP deployment and the system log feature under the framework of the digital mines Communication and Management System. In addition, according to AP received signal strength information (RSSI), realizes of the wireless location function under the coal mine environment.First of all, proposed an AP planning and design methods which is suitable for underground mine. According to the needs of Digital Mines Integrated Wireless Communication and Management System, and basing on the AP design principle, the paper improves the planning design methods of usually ground AP.Through research on the law of electromagnetic wave propagation loss and the simulation of wireless links of AP, the coverage of AP can be obtained, then the AP can be deployed reasonably in the underground mine. Basis for the proposed AP planning and design methods, we do the AP planning design from AP's location deployment,amount distribution and channel configuration etc.Secondly, basing on architecture of the Digital Mines Integrated Wireless Communication and Management System achieves the application research of the AP, including the design and implementation of AP's SYSLOG function and the wireless location feature of the mobile station. SYSLOG function of AP mainly record time station adding or leaving, mac of station, and IP of AP to achieve the adjustment and distribution of the mobile station, and to complete integrated management and scheduling of the entire system. wireless function uses the method of combining the experience of the largest RSSI value and the probability of the average RSSI value underground mine to realize positioning under the digital mines Communication and Management System.This method of maximize the advantages of AP of the digital mines Communication and Management System, and saves the system costs.Finally, in order to verify the achievement of the study, this article make some tests on the above results in Beijing Jiaotong University campus environment and Mongolia Shang Wan coal mine environmental. Test results show that the simulation results of the AP coverage can cover of Digital Mines Integrated Wireless Communication and Management System, and any mobile terminal can be maintained good state of communication. The development of SYSLOG information function of AP can be achieved in the coal mine. In addition, the location method can achieve the positioning of mobile terminals.
