As the rapid development of science and technology today, the regulatory mechanisms of the coal industry also tend to maturing. But the safety problems of coal mine still exist because of the special environment of coal mine. Coal mine personnel positioning system with the fanction of real-time location of underground personnel, monitoring of underground work environment, can improve coal mine production safety factor, and can also improve the rescue efficiency of coal mine accident effectively. Against some inadequacies existing in personnel positioning system, this paper uses ZigBee technology to design a new personnel positioning system. As positioning system based on ZigBee technology can solve the above problems existing in common personnel positioning system, ZigBee technology has been widely studied and applied. This paper is to research and design the application of ZigBee technology at the underground personnel positioning system.First, this article compares the current common underground personnel positioning technology and emerging ZigBee technology, and then summed up the feasibility and advantages of ZigBee technology applied in underground personnel positioning system. After in-depth study of the ZigBee protocol and network topology types of ZigBee, sum up the process of networking and methods of network management of ZigBee wireless network. The overall system structure includes two parts ZigBee radio sub-networks and fiber optic cable transmission network, the main design is the ZigBee wireless sub-networks, fiber-optic cable network uses the existing fiber optic network under mine. Select the new generation ZigBee wireless chip CC2530of TI’s as the core chip of ZigBee nodes in the hardware part of the system. Use CC2530and simple peripheral circuit the ZigBee positioning terminal, use CC2530and the2.4GHz RF front-end CC2591design the ZigBee routing node and adding a storage module AT24C1024to router, we get the ZigBee positioning sub-station. In the case of experimental conditions allowed, test the data communication function of two ZigBee nodes based on the ZigBee protocol. Contrast, summarize the location technologies in wireless sensor networks, select a positioning mechanism for the system, the location algorithm based on RSSI, and improve the defects of the algorithm. Using the RF signal attenuation model close to the underground environment, make a Maltlab simulation experiment of the revised positioning algorithm.Data communication experiments show that, the wireless communication function of ZigBee nodes designed is normal. Maltlab simulation tests show that, the positioning accuracy of the positioning algorithm modified is higher. Personnel positioning system based on ZigBee technology can be for real-time identification and positioning for the positioning terminal carried on underground miners, and ZigBee wireless network has characteristics of reference nodes laid random, network self-organization, environmental adaptability, and other issues.
