| Tailings Pond is an environmental protection installation for holding waste mine and water, but meanwhile, it's a pollution source. Once it causes some accidents, it leads to the awful result to the environment and is bad for the society. As a result, to Tailings Pond, environmental protection and stability complement each other.According to the research of many Tailings Pond's accidents happened home and abroad. The reasons are all related to the "water". Such as noxious substance from waste mine and water. Especially the Collapsing accident of Tailings Pond brings very serious consequence to the environement. Such as surface water pollution, groundwater pollution, soil pollution, air pollution, radiation pollution and other ecology pollution. And brings the terrible loss on labour power and financial resources. To sum up, this thesis advances the theory—"acute pollution accident"and "chronic pollution accident" creatively, and combine risk assessment theory and method of Tailings Pond's safety to analyze deeply and find five main dangerous factors about "acute pollution accident", such as seepage, release floodwater, earthquake and dam structure, corrosiveness, and harmful factors about "chronic pollution accident". According to the analysis conclusion of Tailings Dam's stability, I have obtained that the main line of the two kinds of Tailings Pond's polluted accidents is the wastewater from waste mine, so we should pay more attention to the solution of waste mine and water. It's necessary for us to do that. As a result, to solve the problem of the pollution caused by Tailings Pond's accidents, according to the trait of these two pollution accidents, the thesis focuses on the measures of dealing with waste mine and water and founds the urgent processing measures of accident. Meanwhile, it unites the preventing and controlling of Tailings Pond's pollution and the urgent processing measures of accident creatively. In this way, to reduce the risk of the pollution to the environment.
