EPS thermal insulation mortar is made from discarded expanded polystyrene particles (EPS) as main light aggregate.This mortar can save energy and utilize wastes with excellent thermal property,durability,weatherability and cracking resistance,as well as good construction workability,which have been used widely in architectural engineering.But,along with our country's building energy efficiency work advancement and the relevance standard is published,the original EPS insulation mortar certain performance do not satisfy the standard's request.In order to have high performance EPS insulation mortar product, we need to promote its performance.The issues of layering and interface bond in the stirring process of insulation mortar are solved by the use of triethanolamine and polymer latex to pretreatment on EPS particle for surface modification and by wrapping silicate binding material on the surface of EPS particles.With the help of orthogonal design, the best added quantity of triethanolamine, polymer latex and wrapped silicate binding material are obtained.The influence of grain size and distribution of EPS particles on EPS thermal insulation mortar's workability and construction is significant.It is difficult to gain EPS thermal insulation mortar which own good workability by adjust simply the distribution of EPS particles.In this study,through by used of the mixture EPS particles and vitrified microsphere to achieve optimized aggregate gradation and to reduce the Porosity of the aggregate, to reduce the necessary amount of silicate binding material in insulation material.The influences of various additives on the properties of EPS insulating mortar were investigated to select the appropriate kind and optimal dosage of the main components and further improve its integrative performances.Based on the excellent workability and mechanical properties,reduce the dry density of EPS insulation mortar and further enhance its thermal insulation properties by used reducing the amount reducing the amount,fly ash replaced part of the cement and the additive of air entraining. We can draw some conclusions from the experimental as followings:The determination contact angle of surface indicate that triethanolamine and polymer latex B has good surface modification effect on the surface of EPS particle,and the best surface modification conditions are as follows:the best added quantity of wrapping silicate binding material, triethanolamine and polymer latex B are 2 times,3 % and 2 % of quality of EPS particle.The research on influences of aggregate on the properties of EPS insulating indicate that the workability and adhesive aggregation property of insultion mortar prepared by crushing EPS powders are better than that of insulation mortar prepared by pre-foming.It is best that the physical, mechanical properties and thermal insulation properties of EPS insulating mortar when mass ratio of EPS particles and vitrified microsphere is 4.4 in the mixture aggregate.
