Open up a discussion and study around rare earth, two types of the novel inorganic materials with rare earth were synthesized. Their structure and property were in detail characterized. With nano-titania and AgNO3 and rare earth nitrate (RE=Ce4+,La3+,Nd3+,Sm3+,Er3+) as raw materials, five kinds of core-shell structure Ag+-loaded nano-titania doped with rare earth ion antibacterial agents have been prepared by the impregnation technique. The core-shell structure has been verified by UV-Vis,XRD,XPS,TEM in the Ag+-loaded nano-titania doped with Ce4+ antibacterial agent. Outstanding antibacterial activities of the five core-shell antibacterial agents have been studied and vervified. With heating up and churning up, eight new solid ternary complexes of rare earth with 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid andα-picolinic acid were synthesized step by step. Their composition and property were characterized by Elemental analysis, Molar conductance, XRD, UV-VIS, FT-IR, Raman, TG-DTA etc. The compositions of the complexes were confirmed to be [RE(DPA)(Lα)(H2O)]·2H2O (RE= La3+,Ce3+,Pr3+,Nd3+,Sm3+,Eu3+,Gd3+,Er3+; DPA=2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid; HLα=α-picolinic acid). The stability of heat was proved by the data of TG-DTA, and was better than their ligands. From the fluorescence spectra, we conclude that DPA could enhance the fluorescence of Eu3+, and make the complex with Eu3+ emit bright red fluorescence. The antibacterial activities of the complexes were evaluated by the agar-diffusion method and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration. The results indicated that all the eight complexes exhibited antibacterial ability against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus with broad antimicrobial spectrums. Meanwhile, the complexes are durable quality. The anti-tumor activity of the La complex against K562 tumor cell in vitro were researched by morphological observation including Invert Microscope (IM) and Fluorescence microscope (FCM), active test including Methyl Thiazolyl Tetrazolium (MTT) and fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS). The results showed that the complex could induce K562 tumor cells apoptosis and inhibit their growth; the cell apoptosis rate and the inhibition rate were both higher than their ligands and were concentration-dependent and time-dependent. La complex of 1μg·ml-1 which has induced K562 tumor cell for 72h can effect best apoptosis power, and effect S period.
