In this thesis, cationic fluorescent dye, Yellow X-10GFF dye, and Cationic orange dyes, DHEASPBr-C2 and DHEASPBr-C4 were applied in silk dyeing. First, hemicyanine dye DHEASPBr-C2 was synthesized successfully and its structure were characterized by infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer. Then we selected two hemicyanine dyes, DHEASPBr-C2 and DHEASPBr-C4, as cationic fluorescent dye and fluorescent Yellow X-10GFF as reference sample in silk dyeing. These three dyes'linear optical properties were discussed in ultraviolet absorption spectrum and single-photon fluorescence spectrum. The effects of dyeing temperature, pH and dye concentration on dyeing adsorption were discussed. Meanwhile, dye uptake, reflectance, K/S and color fastness were measured, adsorption type of different dyes were judged by measuring the adsorption isotherm, dyeing heating-rate curve, dyeing saturation value and appetency constant, the reciprocity between the different dyes and silk and dyeing mechanism were analysized. At last, the dyed silk was treated by metal salts and fixing agent to improve color fastness. It was found that Yellow X-10GFF, DHEASPBr-C2 and DHEASPBr-C4 were suitable for dyeing silk in weak acid and at low temperature conditions. The initial temperature was 20oC, and then rose to 30 oC, holding time was 50 min, the liquor ratio was 1: 100 and pH was around 5. The results showed that sorption isotherm is still a Langmuir type, and the dyed silk fabrics have obvious fluorescent effect in the reflectance spectra. Their color fastness are not good, but were all improved after fixation by metal salts and fixing agent. In addition, according to the EN-471 standard (2003), the chromaticity of dyed silk fabric was calculated to evaluate whether these three fluorescent dyes could meet the requirements of the fluorescent dye for high visibility warning clothing. The fluorescent performance of Yellow X-10GFF and DHEASPBr-C2 was more ideal than that of DHEASPBr-C4.
