Ambient Air Quality Status In Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region And Its Relationship With Economic Growth

First, we analysis the ambient air quality of 12 cities and the overall of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region during 2001-2008 by the comprehensive index of air pollution, comparing it with the major cities in north China. Second, we briefly introduce the economic situation of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Finally, the comprehensive index of air pollution for the environmental indicator, per capita GDP for economic indicator, we fit the curve of relationship between ambient air quality and economic growth of the 12 cities and the overall, checking the conformance between it and environmental Kuznets curve. The conclusions are followed:(1)In the 12 cities of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hulunbeir's environmental air quality is the best, and it's attainment rates of PM10, SO2, NO2 are 100%. Relatively speaking, Baotou and Wuhai are worse, whose attainment rates of PM10 and SO2 are 0.(2)The changes of the ambient air quality over time of the 12 cities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region present different forms. Ambient air quality in some cities are better year by year, but other cities worse.(3)The overall ambient air quality of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is getting better year by year. Compared the environmental air quality, it is better than the major cities in north China.(4)The relationships between ambient air quality and economic growth of 12 cities and the overall of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region include the "N" type, inverted "N" type, "U" type and a negative correlation function, verified the regional differences and limitations of the environmental Kuznets curve.(5)The fitting curves of Baotou, Chifeng, Wuhai partly consistent the inverted "U"-type relationship of the environmental Kuznets curve, showing that these areas have a good development trend between environment and economic, and economic growth has not increased pollution. We should continue to maintain or increase the existing efforts of environmental protection. At the same time, the other cities should strengthen the efforts of environment protection while developing the economic to coordinate the development of environment and economy.(6)The relationship between ambient air quality and economic growth of 12 cities and the overall of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the compliance between the fitting curve and the inverted "U" shaped of the environmental Kuznets curve have produced because of data, index selection, curve fitting, the economic structure and the environmental policies, while economic structure is the main reason.
