Most existing domestic inkjet printers accomplish image data processing on PC, and transfer the data to the printing nozzle afterwards. Current general-purpose micron-processors can not afford real-time data processing, which then limit the print speed of the inkjet printer. To address this problem, this paper presents a high-speed data processing system in the digital inkjet machine funded by the Zhejiang University research project. Test result shows that the new system throughput is up to 320Mbps.Chapterâ… introduces relevant background issues, including the origin, developments, and advantages of the inkjet printing. The significance of the subject and related research contents are discussed.Chapterâ…¡analyzes requirements of the system, and proposes a high-speed inkjet printing machine data processing system architecture based on MPC8548E and Xilinx Virtex-5. An overview of the architecture of MPC8548E and Virtex-5, and the interaction between these two processors are also discussed.Chapterâ…¢depicts the detailed implementation of each function module of the system, including the processor module aimed for the Gigabit Ethernet network data reception, and the data processing FPGA module.Chapterâ…£describes the signal integrity, the power integrity and the design for the PCB routing layout.Chapterâ…¤depicts system debugging, and then gives the result of performance test.Chapterâ…¥sums up the work of the research project and prognosticates the prospect of inkjet printing machine system.
