Rosin is a sort of renewable resourcesres with low price. Maleic rosin/SiO2 hybrid materials was prepared from rosin modified by maleic anhydride and silica, moreover, the structure and properties of the relative products were characterized and tested also.Maleic rosin were prepared from rosin and maleic anhydride. Compared with rosin, the crystallizing maleic rosin ability decreases. From bromine value testing and analyzing results, the best conditions to prepare maleic rosin were as following: mass percent of maleic anhydride was 30%, reaction time was 3 h, reaction temperature is 200℃.Maleic rosin/SiO2 hybrid materials bonded by Si-O-C between the organic unit and inorganic unit were prepareed via the esterification reaction between the silica and maleic rosin in presenc of p-methylbezenesulfonic acid. From acid value testing and analyzing results, the best conditons to prepare maleic rosin/SiO2 hybrid materials were as following: reaction time was 5 h, reaction tempreture was 160℃, SiO2 content was 8%, catalyst dosage was 6.5%. The maleic rosin/SiO2 hybrid material was amorphous state and the Tg of composite increased with the mass percent of SiO2.Cationic maleic rosin/SiO2 organic inorganic hybrid material emulsions were prepared with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as emulsifier, Span 60 and Tween 60 as co-emulsifier.The solid content and pH value of the emulsion were 29.5% and 4.5 respectively. The dispersion and stability the emulsion were good. From the outlook and stability of emulsion, the best experimental conditions to prepare emulsion were as following: mass percent of cetyl-trimethylammonium bromide was 12%, ratio of Span 60 to Tween 60 is 1:4 and the percent of asistant emulsion agent is 20%, emulsified and conversion tempreture were 155~165℃and 100℃, respectivly.
