Since entering the 21st century, with the Growing world energy crisis and the growing national emphasis on energy conservation strategies, many regulations have been enacted to limit the application of traditional solvent-based coatings. Alcohol-soluble acrylic resin is a new type of environmentally friendly coating resin that be different from traditional solvent-based coating resins and water-based resin. The resin is environmental non-toxic, and has excellent comprehensive properties of coating and good prospects in building, industrial protection, furniture decorating. So there are theoretical and practical meanings to study alcohol-soluble acrylic resin.In this paper, an alcohol-soluble acrylic resin with good alcohol stability is synthesized by solution polymerization method, using anhydrous ethanol as the polymerization solvent, the acrylic ester monomers and acrylic ester functional monomers as basic composition. In our experiments, the effects of resin formulation and polymerization technical schedule conditions including monomer species and mixture ratio, reaction monomer concentration, initiator concentration, polymerization temperature, titration time, stirring intensity on the ethanol dissolution rate of alcohol-soluble acrylic resin were studied. Furthermore, the effects of initiator concentration and polymerization temperature on the reaction rate of monomer conversion were also studied. The experimental results show that the main factors affecting the ethanol stability is the kind of acrylate functional monomer and resin molecular weight. The optimum formulation and process conditions are: the methacrylic acid was as functional monomer, monomer concentration was 40%, AIBN was 2%, polymerization temperature is 90℃; titration time was 2h, stirring intensity was 700rpm.The effects of adding organic siloxane type and ratio on the alcohol-soluble acrylic resin, water resistance and mechanical properties of resin coating were studied. The experimental results show that the adding of Z6040 and KH570 can significantly improve the water resistance, coating the glass substrate adhesion, film tensile strength and elongation at break of alcohol-soluble acrylic resin. The appropriate dosage of Z6040 and KH570 is 1.5% of the other total content of monomer. The reaction mechanism of acrylic resin modified with organic siloxane was studied by FT-IR, DSC and characterization. The nano-ATO/alcohol-soluble acrylic insulated glass coating was prepared by blending method. The optimum formulations of preparing insulated glass coating By orthogonal test is: alcohol-soluble acrylic resin (solid content 36%) is 100 cent, nano-ATO ethanol dispersion (solid content 50%) is 11.8 cent, dispersing agent DP-518 is 1.5 cent, thickener AT-70 is 0.04 cent, leveling agent BYK-330 is 0.06 cent.
