The successful combination of FRIZ theory and industrial design provide furniture design a theoretical basis. This thesis connects TRIZ theory and furniture production system, and has summarized six aspects of strong correlation between them on the law of evolution, the final ideal solution theory, resource utilization principle,40 inventive principles, the 39 engineering parameters and Altshuller contradiction matrix. These six principles are carried out in furniture designing innovative process, especially on the conceptual design of health office chair and portable computer desks.1) The laws of furniture evolution:as a complex man-machine system, the furniture evolution grows following the three kinds of common laws including demand evolution, function evolution and systemic evolution, and develops along with the direction of "ultimate ideal". Demand evolution grows in the form from simple to complex and from basic to high-end trend. Functional evolution gradually grows from the originally specific and integrated functions into a single function. The furniture systemic evolution increases from simple to complex subsystems.2) The final determination of ideal furniture:the gap between an ideal design and an actual design can be concentrated to zero. Ideal furniture has to meet at least three major conditions: personal and private requirement, demand of customers in market, production conditions in furniture industry. The ideal furniture can be obtained in five steps:a) specifying the ultimate purpose of design, b) defining the ideal furniture, c) spotting the obstacles to achieve the ideal solution, d) analyzing the result of these barriers, and e) finding specific ways to avoid these obstacles.3) The classification and utilization of furniture resources:resource utilization is an exclusively effective and direct principle to resolve obstacles and to achieve an ideal furniture design. The thesis has analyzed and organized the resources in TRIZ theory. It poses hard resources and soft resources in furniture design basing on the characters of tangible and intangible properties in furniture design resources. The classification of resources and the way to select suitable furniture resources, say, hard resource or soft resource, are effective solution to obstacles solving. A full use of resources can clear design features, idealize design and finally achieve ideal furniture. 4) The common invention principles of furniture design:the thesis draws a conclusion of eight common innovative principles of design furniture from the 40 principles proposed by Altshuller. They are summarized into the principle of separation and combination, principle of functional diversity, the principle of spatial variation, the principle of non-equilibrium, principle of replacement, principle of character and shape transformation, principle of smoothing and the principle of introduction. A table comprising of eight invention principles which can be applied to the furniture design has also been summarized.5) Innovation table of furniture modeling design:the thesis has simplified the common 39 parameters causing contradictions in design, and has selected several key parameters suitably related to furniture modeling design. After the contradiction matrix of Altshuller being separated and selected, the matrix has been analyzed and noted from base of deterioration and improvement of utilizing the eight inventions respectively. Eventually, frequency of matrix and principle use and table of innovation furniture design has been obtained.
