Laser quenching heat treatment has a number of advantages that the other processing methods don't have, and it is applied in the industrial production more and more widely. The control machine of cutting is used as laser quenching processing's, it can't meet the actual need of laser hardening. For the situation of laser hardening processing, this paper studies the key technologies in the processing, such as processing path generation, automatic programming and computer simulation, and laser hardening heat treatment CAM system is developed.Through theory research and analysis of laser hardening technology, laser quenching should meet three conditions when the work-pieces being processed: First, the distance of laser head to the surface is same, that is to say, the defocus amount is same; Second, laser beam is always perpendicular to the surface contour of work-pieces; Third, relative scanning speed of laser spot in surface is constant. This paper establishes the relative movement mathematical model of laser head and work-piece with the method that laser head keeps in the same position, but work-piece moves in the contour plane, and analyzes the process of the movement to solve the problem of motion control of laser quenching.According to the functional requirements of system, the laser quenching trajectories generation is analyzed and studied combining with the conditions that laser quenching should meet. For the unique natures of laser hardening technology, NC codes of laser quenching are generated to achieve automatic programming. At the same time, the simulation study of processing code is taken. The simulation of laser hardening process is realized to verify the correctness of NC code. Based on these studies, laser quenching heat treatment CAM system is developed with object-oriented software development methods using Delphi language.This system discusses key problems of development process, according to the information of CAD, it can complete the track generation, and output and verification of the codes correctly. It solves several problems for laser heat treatment, and can meet the actual needs basically. It promotes the automation of manufacturing, and has some application value and economic value.
