Recycling of scrap steel, saved a lot of resources and energy for the country, met the economic requirements of sustainable development, had excellent social and economic efficiency. Shearing machine was a kind of scrap equipment, played an important role in the scrap steel recycling industry. However, the shearing machine that made and designed in china had low performance, and had not high degree of automation, unable to meet the needs of users. The crocodile type hydraulic shearing machine that studied and designed by this paper, will be conducive to the development of China's scrap processing equipment, and will be have a great significance for the scrap recycling business and economic development in China.This paper first analyzes the current development of shearing machine, and expounds the principle of shearing. The scheme design of shearing machine system was determined, and the whole shearing machine system included three parts:host, feeding device and control system. Had a detailed structural and power parameters calculation for shearing machine host, according to the shearing machine's characteristics, the author completed the design of hydraulic system and calculation of the hydraulic system parameters; the author proposed that the slat type conveyer as a shearing machine's feeding device, and used the magnetic clutch and the proximity switch to realize the feeding equipment intermittent motion and material fixed-length cutting; in order to cause the conveyer handling the material to the work table, this article designed the conveyer to be higher than the work table, and installed the spring attachment in the conveyer foundation to reduce conveyer's extrusion pressure made by clamp.Based on alligator shears' operating feature and safety control request, the author designed the control system by using S7-224 series PLC made by Siemens corporation in germany as the CPU, replaced the original relay-contact device system. The author analyzed the principle of hardware design in detail and made the plan of high voltage part and control circuit part, according to alligator shears' control request, the author had carried on the software design to the control system, and made the control procedure flow chart. Furthermore, this paper simulates the effects of this control system in laboratory.
