A Study On The Performance Of Warp Knitted Fabric For Sports And Casual Wear

Recently, with the continuous improvement of economy and the success of the Beijing Olympic Games, modern people lived in the fast-paced environment pay more and more attention to the healthy and pleasant lifestyle, more and more sportswear and casual-wear become the daily dishabille. The output of China's sports industry is increasing now. It's considered the most promising consumer market of sport goods after the United States. Sportswear and casual-wear will have a rapid development in China.With the good air permeability and comfortable performance, warp-knitted fabric become the first choice for sports and casual wear, meanwhile more and more people like the sports and casual wear manufactured by warp-knitted fabric. There are commonly used fabrics like warp-knitted lint fabric, warp-knitted mesh cloth, imitation leather coat warp fabric (such as suede), and the colors Jacquard fabric.In this thesis, the knitted fabrics that often used in sports and casual wear were selected, including 19 warp-knitted fabrics and 10 weft-knitted fabrics, study and compare the properties of the two kinds of fabrics. The main contents and results are as followings:(1) The mechanical properties test of the warp-knitted fabrics and the weft-knitted fabrics, including tensile fracture property, bursting performance, rigidity and softness. Warp-knitted plain cloth and warp-knitted lint fabrics have higher longitudinal strength. The longitudinal strength of warp-knitted mesh cloth is lower than weft-knitted mesh cloth's. Warp-knitted fabrics have good bursting strength. The rigidity of warp-knitted fabrics is small and the fabrics are soft, they're suitable for sports and casual apparel.(2) Test and analysis the heat retention, hydraulic conductivity, moisture permeability and air permeability of the two knitted fabrics, and evaluate comprehensively the heat-moisture comfort property of warp-knitted fabrics that used in summer garments. The warp-knitted plain cloth is thin and the comprehensive evaluation of heat-moisture comfort property is best. The comprehensive evaluation of warp-knitted mesh cloth is better. The performance of warp-knitted lint fabrics is poor because of the influence of thickness. Therefore the warp-knitted plain cloth not only can be used in single-layer sportswear but also in multi-layer sportswear as the in-layers or outer-layer. Warp-knitted mesh cloth is used for the lining of sports and casual wear. Warp-knitted lint fabrics are suitable for autumn and winter sports apparel.(3) Test the pilling and fuzzing resistance of the warp-knitted fabrics and weft-knitted fabrics. The anti-pilling and fuzzing performance of warp-knitted plain cloth is ordinary, but the warp-knitted mesh fabrics are very good. For the warp-knitted lint fabrics, different styles of fabrics have different pilling and fuzzing resistance. Warp-knitted fabrics can use the textile finishing technology to improve the pilling and fuzzing resistance.(4) Based on the experiment test and analysis, the performance of all warp-knitted fabrics are been evaluated comprehensively. Then give the suggestion to promote the market of warp-knitted fabrics which are usually used in sports and casual wear from four aspects:first is increasing the material species, second is strengthening the textile finishing in warp-knitted fabrics, third is using the right fabric in the correct clothing parts, the last is increasing warp-knitted fashion design.
