In this thesis, properties of hollow modified polyester (HMP) are researched; several kinds of knitted fabrics are developed and heat-wet comfort properties of them are tested and evaluated.Through the study of HMP properties, the following results are revealed:because the hydrophobic groups are grafted in HMP, its moisture absorption is better than general polyester, specific volume resistance is distinctly smaller, static effects reduce, wearing behaviors get better, and it is convenient for people to process HMP and use HMP textiles.Through the evaluation of the comfort property, it is seen that in the same condition, wet permeability and vapor transmission properties of HMP knitted fabrics are similar to that of I-shaped section polyester (Coolbst) fabrics, and warmth-retention property remarkably better than that of the Coolbst fabric, PTT fabric and cotton fabric.Based on the theories of wicking effect and differential capillary effect, differential capillary effect fabrics, wicking effect fabrics, wicking effect and differential capillary effect fabrics, wet permeability and warmth retention fabrics can be designed.Through the study of the differential capillary effect fabrics, the following results are revealed:the larger difference between linear density of fibers of inner layer and outer layer of the fabrics, the quicker liquid moisture transmitting and lining drying rate; the lower water retention rate.Through the study of the wicking effect fabrics, the following results are showed:outer layer of the fabric is HMP and combed cotton blended yarn, the fabric's wicking and liquid moisture transmitting get quicker because of remarkable capillary effect of HMP assemblies. Through the study of the wicking effect and differential capillary effect fabrics, the following results are showed:outer layer of the fabric is HMP and combed cotton blended yarn, the properties of heat-moisture comfort are good.Through the study of all-weather fabrics, the following results are revealed:the warmth retention and lining drying rate of the fabric with cotton outer layer and HMP inner layer are better than that of the fabrics with both cotton inner and cotton outer layer; in the same condition, because of the larger interspaces, liquid moisture transmitting and lining drying of triple fabrics are better than double fabrics.Through the tests of stiffness, softness, pilling property, bursting performance, tensile elastic property, wrinkle recovery and drape coefficient of the fabrics, a grey correlation analysis method are used to deal with the experimentation data from the fabrics'tests and the whole enduring functions were comprehensively evaluated. The results show:the better the anti-pilling and flexibility, the higher the bursting strength, the better the comprehensive enduring properties of the fabrics.
