An investigation on the development and producing techniques of external and internal acrylic fiber is presented in the paper. The shortages of homemade acrylic fiber and fabrics are analyzed, and a conclusion that China needs to speed up its development on differential acrylic fiber and fabrics instantly, is attained. This paper focuses on the wearing properties of profiled acrylic knitted fabrics.Different from general acrylic fiber, the profiled acrylic fiber used in the experiments is produced by dry spinning method. Not only the tensile property, bending rigidity, friction coefficient and moisture regain of the profiled and general acrylic fibers are tested, but also these properties of their blended yarns, with blending ratios of profiled acrylic/wool 70/30, 30/70, and general acrylic/wool 70/30. The hairiness of these blended yarns is tested too.The fabrics, knitted by the three above yarns, are dyed and finished,and testing, comparing, analyzing work on wearing properties of these fabrics are done as follows.1. General wearing properties, including bursting strength, fuzz and pilling resistance, are tested and analyzed, and the conclusion is that the profiled acrylic/wool 70/30 is best on the two properties.2. Heat-moisture comfort, including heat insulating ability, moisture vapor transmission and air permeability, are tested. Effect factors are studied and concluded that the profiled acrylic/wool 70/30 fabric is better than the general acrylic/wool 30/70 fabric on heat insulating ability and moisture vapor transmission, but worse than the profiled acrylic/wool 30/70 fabric. And profiled acrylic/wool 70/30 is best, general acrylic/wool 70/30 is worst on air permeability.3. The tensile, bending, shearing, compression and surface of the fabrics are measured by KES-FB system. The profiled acrylic/wool 70/30 fabric's stiffness is best as well as the smoothness and its fullness is worse than the profiled acrylic/wool 30/70 appreciably, and better than the general acrylic/wool 70/30.In brief, being one of the acrylic differential products, the profiled acrylic fabric is excellent on the wearing properties, which is better than the general acrylic fabric. As autumn-winter knitted fabrics, wool/profiled acrylic blended products can replace wool/general acrylic for its good wearing properties, but are still incapable of the substitute of wool fabricwith high qualities.According to the above analyses, we could choose proper textile fibers and blending ratio to produce knitted wear fabrics to meet consumers' requirements.Yin Haixia ( Textile Engineering ) Supervised by Shen Wei...
