Lots of harmful chemicals such as freon caused by the development of industry have damaged the ozone layer since the 20th century, which increases the amount of ultraviolet reaching the earth and creates more influence on human health. Currently only good performance UV absorbers can meet people's increasing demand for UV resistance property of textile. With the population of automobile, the amount of automobile interior-decorative polyester fabric keeps increasing, so it is necessary to research and develop new ultraviolet absorbers for polyester and study its application performance.Benzotriazole UV absorbers can be well consistent with polyester, so this research is focused on benzotriazole UV absorbers.2-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-5-amino-2 H-benzotriazole (A) was synthesized from o-aminophenol and m-phenylenediamine through diazotizing, coupling and oxidizing. Then through changing reactants, 2-(2-Hydroxy-6-Nitrophenyl)-5-amino-2H-benzotriazole (A2) was also synthesized. 2-(2-Hydroxy-4-Aminophenyl) hydrogenated benzotriazole (A1) was synthesized from ortho-nitroaniline and m-aminophenol through diazotizing, coupling and reducing. The yields of the product were 85%,62% and 80% and their structures were characterized by IR and 1H-NMR spectrum. At first an acid (e.g. p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid) reacted with dichlorosulfoxide to afford the corresponding acyl chloride quantitatively. The latter was then subjected to acylamidation reaction with 2-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-5-amino-2 H-benzotriazole (UV absorber A) to give the new UV absorber B,C and D. The structures of the product were characterized by IR and 1H-NMR spectrum. The maximum UV absorption wavelength of UV absorber A, B, C and D reaches 325 nm,351 nm,342 nm, and 379 nm, respectively. The paper also carried out some exploratory experiments, the benzotriazole UV absorbers and hindered amine were joined to the same molecule by triazine, two kinds of functional groups in one molecule can get better UV-protective effect through interaction. While benzotriazole intermediates and triazine have very poor solubility, so it is difficult for the target molecule to seperate and purify.The polyester has been finished using the three new UV absorbers by the method of high temperature and pressure dip dyeing. the best conditions are that the amount of absorbent is 0.1-1.0%(o.w.f), finishing temperature is 60℃and liquor ratio is 1:20, pH is 4-5. The UV absorbers were analysized on the curve of UV absorption and dye uptake and UV transmittance.The results showed that the fabric being finished had good UV resistance performance and washing fastness; dyeing uptake is related to molecule weight of UV absorbers, higher molecular weight, the smaller the rate of dyeing; The UV light transmittance of the polyester fabrics after dyeing with the UV absorbers decreased markedly, indicating that all of the four UV absorbers had excellent UV light absorbing property with UV absorber C being the best. UPF values of the dyed polyester fabrics increased substantially with the increase in UV absorber amount when the concentration of the UV absorbers was below 0.7%(o.w.f) and reached about 40 in the case of 0.7%(o.w.f) of UV absorber C, which afforded the uptake value of 32.47% onto the polyester fabrics. UV absorber C is most effective in view of UV light transmittance and UPF value of the dyed polyester fabrics, perhaps due to double intramolecular hydrogen bonds formation in the molecules.The polyester was finished in one-bath of UV absorbers and disperse dyes, UV-absorbing agent on the impact of disperse dyes was researched by analysizing UPF of the fabric and K/S value; The results showed that the UV resistant performance of dyed fabric was still good, UPF of the fabic increased from 45 to 70; it can be finished with disperse dyes in one-bath, so it had a good prospect.
