Based on GPRS network, remote monitoring system using its two-way transmission performance can easily monitor various electrical equipments and get information. Compared with the past remote monitoring systems, this system has many advantages, such as flexible networking, convenient, wide range of data transmission, high reliability, fast response time, and so on. Also it has great significance and value of research in CNC machine tool system with upgrade GPRS in the mobile communication networks, data services expand and data transfer capabilities.GPRS-based remote fault monitoring for CNC machine tools developed as a new fault detection method. Compared with the CNC machine tools based on network fault monitoring, it has the advantages of network flexibility, low cost, space and geographical constraints, etc, so it gets more and more users.As structural characteristics of CNC machine tools, on the basis of its development status of remote monitoring at home and abroad, understanding the advantages of GPRS transmission mode, overall design of the monitoring system was firstly introduced, including the mainly monitoring requirements, programs and communication theory of GPRS, communication protocols and the choice of communication links. Then, the general software and hardware of CNC machine tools, classification of the main fault, fault signal acquisition were mainly analyzed, and the analysis and process methods of monitoring dates were also analyzed. Forthermore, the transmission and reception method of the fault signal were researched, including Etang's GPRS module MD-609G configuration, the network approach, the communication configuration and data transmission of structures king software. Finally, implementation process of the CNC roll grinding machine were studied, the CNC roll grinder control system used Siemens 840D/810D CNC system. After analysising of the common fault type in CNC roll grinder and control system of Siemens 840D/810D, fault signal acquisition and processing methods were studed, using S7-200 to design initialization procedure, using Configuration king software to design the monitoring interface and its composition, functions, methods of operation, meaningwhile, configuration king with PLC, the configuration king with Access database's date transfer and calls were achieved.
