The rapid development of network and communication technology, greatlypromotes the level of automatic management in oil districts. Adopting wirelessmonitoring systems to collect oil well data and monitor the working state hasbecome into an inevitable trend. The paper puts forward and design a scheme ofremote monitoring system for oil wells based on GPRS, which can collect andtransmit data of oil wells, draw instruction power diagrams, and monitor theoil-extractors all the time.GPRS is a new data-transmitting service, which can transmit data for a longdistance by using the present GSM base system and being connected to the Internet. It runs steadly with rare code missing or wrong codes. What is more, it needs not tobeuild our own network, so the cost of building network can be saved. Practiceshows that the GPRS technology is very fit for those applications in which a greatdeal of data needs transmitting instantly. The system mainly includes three parts: oil-extractors control unit, remote datatransmission unit and data processing unit in the monitoring center. Theoil-extractors control unit is on the base of Atmel89C52 MCU, which can collectdata, such as voltage, electric current, loads and displacement. It also can send andreceive data, and control oil-extractors. The remote data transmission unit transmitsdata by GPRS modem so as to implement the communication between theoil-extractors and the monitoring center. The data processing unit in the monitoringcenter which is developed by C++ Builde6.0 can store oil-extractors display theworking state, draw instruction power diagrams, and diagnose the malfunctions ofoil-extractors.
